Apple Pulls 'Overtly Sexy' Apps: Tiger Woods to Blame?

On the same day Tiger Woods publicly admitted his multiple infidelities, Apple Inc. (AAPL) started pulling “overtly sexy” apps from its App Store. Is there a connection? (C’mon, we kid, we kid.)

Just what “overtly sexy” is remains vague. Apple’s Morality Police haven’t defined their guidelines except to tell the developer of Wobble iBoobs, “we are constantly refining our guidelines,” according to TechCrunch.

“Your application, Wobble iBoobs (Premium Uncensored), contains content that we had originally believed to be suitable for distribution. However, we have recently received numerous complaints from our customers about this type of content, and have changed our guidelines appropriately.”

What Apple does not address is the myriad other porn and sex-related apps that remain available, not to mention audiobooks distributed by the likes of Penthouse.

Sure, Apple has every right to apply its own decency standards to its invention – but it seems to be picking and choosing without lending clarity to what is considered appropriate. This has been a question for a long time, though. A few months ago, Apple gave the thumbs-up for apps for porn stars Sunny Leone and Aria Giovanni, but refused an iPorn app whose content actually was accessible only through iPorn’s Web site.
