EUR Systems (Booth 1609) announced Monday that Aptis, its end-user product, has produced unprecedented results for scalability and throughput improvements. The benchmark tests, conducted at the IBM facility in Rochester, Minn., demonstrated the system’s ability to support complex usage-based and data services for communications providers with subscriber requirements in excess of 500 million CDRs and in excess of 4.6 million flat-fee charges.

"Clearly defined scalability is a key aspect that every service provider will look for before making any purchasing decision," says Paul Hughes, director of Billing and Payment Application Strategies research at The Yankee Group. "Service providers are depending on their billing and customer care solutions to meet both today’s and tomorrow’s requirements, and EUR Systems has shown that, through ongoing investment in its platform development, that it is ready to meet and exceed those requirements today, " he says.

EUR performed its benchmark tests with real client data to ensure accurate client environment results. The scalability capabilities ensure that clients can consolidate multiple billing platforms onto Aptis and still effectively bill their customers with an improved bill run time.

The testing was performed on multiple configurations of the IBM iSeries. The i-830, 8-way processor, with 8GB of memory, produced a throughput improvement of 70 percent with a processing time of three hours over a single thread test of 8.5 hours. The latest iSeries, the i890 Power PC4 with a 32-way processor, with 256GB of memory, can produce a throughput improvement of 890 percent with a processing time of three hours on 500 million CDRs.

Aptis 3.0 seamlessly integrates with IBM’s WebSphere, a Java-based application environment for building, deploying and managing online services such as e-commerce and Web self-care. It is available as a licensed or outsourced solution with a range of support services customized to specific technical and business needs.
