Avaya Inc. announced Monday three new Avaya Aura suites of UC, mobility and collaboration applications that help simplify pricing and the delivery of UC applications.

The three suites have their own characteristics, with each one adding more UC capabilities as follows.

  • Foundation delivers enterprise-wide architecture for communications, including SIP-enabled clients, core telephony, messaging, IM/presence and desktop video clients.

  • Mobility adds capabilities for remote, mobile and traveling workers anywhere, including single number access, BYOD features and secure remote access.

  • Collaboration builds upon Foundation and Mobility suites with capabilities such as video and multi-modal conferencing, which are scalable to tens of thousands of users and use distributed media and a “video routing” architecture.

These new suites replace the Standard and Enterprise Editions of Avaya Aura UC solutions.

Significantly, the new suites include much more functionality out of the box, according to suite licensing information from Avaya (see chart below). For example, the Foundation Suite includes nine licenses while Standard only included two and Enterprise only included eight. Mobility includes 14 feature licenses and Collaboration includes all 16.

While all of the suites can add Avaya Aura Conferencing as an option, only the Collaboration Suite offers the Scopia Desktop and Mobility package Avaya added from its purchase of Radvision.

Another noteworthy difference is that all of the versions of the new suite include Microsoft Lync integration while the Standard and Enterprise editions did not.

The restructuring also impacts pricing. The new suite pricing is not based on the number of users but the functionality as follows:  Foundation is $225 per user; Mobility is $325 per user and Collaboration  is $525 per user.

Previously, the Standard and Enterprise editions of Avaya Aura had three-tier pricing  based on the number of users: 1-100, 101-1,000 and 1,001+.  Standard pricing ranged from $240 to $185 per user and Enterprise ranged from $320-$265 per user.
