Avistar Touts Extended Support for IBM Lotus Sametime 8.5
January 18, 2010
Avistar Communications Corp. said it will demonstrate at Lotusphere full high-definition (HD) videoconferencing, designed to be manageable, scalable and visually exciting, without consuming critical desktop resources or saturating corporate networks that are needed for business applications.
With the introduction of IBM’s enhanced Telephony Conferencing Interface, Avistar has begun integrating its all-software multiparty bridging solution, the Avistar C3 Conference and licensed elements of Avistar’s bandwidth management, the Avistar C3 Command solution, with Lotus Sametime 8.5. The integration of Avistar solutions with Lotus Sametime 8.5 will ensure a desktop visual communications experience that is manageable, scalable and economical, while providing an exciting experience to the end-user, the company said.
“The game has changed for desktop videoconferencing, now that HD is available,” said Stephen Epstein, CMO, Avistar. “But with that said, HD support has to be introduced in a thoughtful and intelligent way. Avistar has recognized that providing HD desktop videoconferencing, without proper controls, bridging software and application intelligence, a client’s network can become saturated and precious desktop resources can be consumed which are needed for business critical applications.”
