Breakthrough Technology Group (BTG), a cloud, managed services IT and telecom provider, has named a former VMware engineer as its CIO.
Travis Sales now holds responsibility for BTG’s hosting services, solution development, data management and information systems.
“I’m excited to be joining BTG,” Sales said in a prepared statement. “Private cloud solutions have many nuances and BTG has demonstrated a unique understanding on how to leverage these offerings for maximum impact with their customers. I look forward to bringing my experiences to this diverse team and to helping BTG expand its position as a market leader in private cloud, virtual desktop and universal application support.”
Sales comes to BTG from VMware, where he worked as a staff engineer in the End-User Computing business unit. He helped bring VMware ThinApp and VMware Horizon to market, and also was a founding member of VMware’s Center of Excellence group. Sales started working at VMware in 2008, after VMware bought Thinstall, of which Sales was a principle.
Travis is among the most respected and true pioneers of virtualization, and his expertise will ensure our ability to deliver reliable, cost-effective and innovative solutions to enterprises of all sizes,” Jeff Kaplan, CEO and founder of BTG, said in a press release.
BTG specializes in professional and managed services, including Exchange, SharePoint, private clouds, virtual desktop infrastructure and shared desktops. The company is a certified Microsoft, Citrix and VMware partner.
