January 20, 2009
Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division and Broadcore Inc. announced Tuesday that Broadcore’s SIP trunking services have been certified with Toshiba’s family of Strata CIX IP business communication systems and are now available from Authorized Toshiba Dealers. Broadcore provides SIP trunking services nationwide.
The certification is the latest announced by Toshiba. The gearmaker earlier announced interoperability with IP services from AT&T Inc. and IPtimize Inc.. It also announced a special interop agreement with PAETEC wherein Toshiba also became a national master sales agent for the carrier.
The Broadcore SIP trunking service provides trunk lines to customers with premises-based PBX phone systems and allows them to connect branch locations and/or remote users on the Broadcore service to the existing premises-based PBX users.
According to Medy Shahoveissi, Broadcore’s vice president of marketing and business development, SIP trunking offers advantages over traditional analog lines or PRI interfaces, including a lower service-cost structure, more efficient bandwidth usage for voice and data applications, disaster recovery features, no geographic number restrictions (move without changing phone numbers) and the elimination of TDM-to-VoIP gateways at the customer premises.
