Carriers, Resellers Tangle Over Short-Duration Calls

Starting in October, things could get a little scary for some resellers and their call center customers with large volumes of short-duration calls. On Oct. 1, Qwest  is expected to up its wholesale rates for those that generate “excessive” numbers of such calls.

That’s the word from communications services reseller and Qwest wholesale customer TMC Communications, whose president and CFO Ron Ireland says that Qwest sent it a notice to that extent in late August.

Qwest told us, “We base our pricing and contracts on best-case business practices that are determined by the market place as well our commitment to balance investment and profitable growth.”
