COMPTEL: TransNexus Deploys Single Intelligent Routing Solution at BroadRiver
February 25, 2008
TransNexus Inc. (Booth 523), a newly licensed MetaSwitch OSS/network management partner, successfully has deployed a least-cost routing and billing solution at BroadRiver Communication Corp., enabling the Atlanta-based CLEC to deliver VoIP to its cable customers.
BroadRiver selected the MetaSwitch VP 3500 softswitch, which features a full range of Class 5 features with SIP and SS7 interoperability. The solution also gave BroadRiver access to multiple IXCs via the SIP trunks, enabling the company to route traffic across multiple carriers and decrease the cost of its long-distance services by 40 percent, said TransNexus.
With TransNexus’ single intelligent routing solution for its VoIP and TDM network, BroadRiver is able to normalize carrier rates quoted by LATA, OCN or tiers into a simple NPA-NXX-X format that includes rates for partitioned NXXs. For each long-distance call, the MetaSwitch VP 3500 softswitch queries the TransNexus platform for routing information. The TransNexus route server then returns a routing prefix indicating which trunk group, SIP or TDM, the softswitch should use to complete the call.
The TransNexus solution also provides detailed traffic analysis reports and hourly billing reports. Reconciliation reports deliver a comprehensive summary of rated call detail records for traffic routed to each long-distance vendor.
“The TransNexus software provides BroadRiver with a very efficient, centralized solution for managing all our internetwork telephone traffic — VoIP and TDM. The payback period based on just the least-cost routing benefits was less than two months,” said Michael Oken, vice president and CTO of BroadRiver. “In addition, the TransNexus technical support has been excellent.”
