Cox Business Adds Mobility to Hosted Voice Service

The initial launch includes six apps for smartphone, tablet and desktop computers providing outbound calling, click-to-dial, instant messaging, and Outlook integration (Windows only).

Cox Business on Tuesday said it has enhanced its IP Centrex hosted voice service with connectivity capabilities through smartphones, tablets and desktop computers.

Cox Business' Steve RowleyUsing the BroadSoft UC-One platform, Cox Business said it has strengthened its current offerings to deliver a unified communications (UC) experience. When all features are activated, Cox Business users will maintain in-office connectivity while working anytime, anywhere.

The IP Centrex service now will deliver business voice, instant messaging, presence, collaboration and more. The initial launch includes six apps for smartphone, tablet and desktop computers providing outbound calling, click-to-dial, instant messaging, and Outlook integration (Windows only).

Two-way calling is available for the mobile smartphone app and includes mobile phone line integration for greater voice-call reliability, according to Cox. Soon to follow, tablet and desktop apps will provide outbound calling, and the addition of collaboration features for all six apps.{ad}

The organization also serves most of the top-tier wireless and wireline telecommunications carriers in the United States through its wholesale division.
