Georgia-based CLEC Ernest Communications has hired David D’Antonio as its new vice president of sales and marketing.

D’Antonio comes to Ernest from Strategic Products and Services (SPS), a value-added reseller. From 2007 to 2012, he held vice president roles, most recently as a cloud solutions executive. Before that, he ran SPS’ sales force. Prior to SPS, D’Antonio spent almost three years as Avaya’s director of business development. Ernest said it needed a sales leader who understands cloud technology, particularly now that the company has launched its own line of hosted VoIP and unified communications services.

“We are excited to be adding someone of Davids caliber to our senior leadership team,” said Paul Masters, president of Ernest. “He brings world class experience, knowledge and drive to our exceptional staff.”

D’Antonio’s expertise includes building technology partnerships and writing white papers, Ernest said. He has served in the U.S. Army as a captain.
