Estech Systems Inc. (ESI) has purchased Vintalk’s brand and retail assets from Vinculum Communications Inc., several months after the companies announced their products as interoperable.

The companies last August touted that Vintalk’s SIP trunking was authorized to work with ESI’s phones for SMBs. This latest development now gives ESI a toehold in the SIP trunking and hosted PBX markets.

ESI said the Vintalk buy closed on Jan. 9; the deal included infrastructure, Vintalk’s SIP trunking and hosted PBX customers and the transfer of Vintalk retail unit staff to ESI Hosted Services LLC. Financial terms were not disclosed but ESI did say the search for an acquisition target began in December 2011.

“This investment fulfills a primary component of our strategic plan and propels us into the cloud services business,” said Doug Boyd, ESIs CEO and co-owner of ESI Hosted Services.

Now, he said, ESI’s 600-plus resellers may offer communications systems and phones, as well as SIP trunking and hosted PBX services that will ”drive additional growth opportunities and take advantage of the increasing interest in hosted communications products.”
