First Communications Acquires Acceris Communications

First Communications has acquired the customer base of Acceris Communications, a telecommunications company based in Pittsburgh. First Communications also has purchased Acceris Nortel Passport Frame Relay/MPLS network, which includes switch locations in Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York and Pittsburgh. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval with an anticipated final closing date in September.

Acceris services 250 enterprise commercial customers throughout the United States. Acceris services domestic and international long-distance voice services, managed virtual private networks, Web hosting, frame relay, MPLS, private line and other communication and information technology services.
