GENBAND, which last week announced it has added cloud and as-a-service platforms to its legacy infrastructure business model, now has teamed with Samsung Telecommunications America to bring secure tablets to enterprises.

The companies plan to provide one device workers may use for voice, video, data and collaboration; they’ll combine GENBAND’s UC software with Samsung’s tablet. The resulting product is intended to replace desk phones.

"Our vision is consistent with the vision of many CIOs’ a mobile tablet as the primary voice and multimedia communications device bundled with a carrier grade, cloud-based UC service," said Sam Waicberg, GENBAND’s marketing exec, in a prepared statement.

The tablet will be available through GENBAND’s channel partners.
