Genesys Conferencing (Booth 611), a global multimedia conferencing provider, has developed a proprietary VoIP softphone that is fully integrated with the companys flagship multimedia conferencing service, Genesys Meeting Center. The Genesys VoIP Softphone, available through Genesys agents and resellers, replaces the telephone in a Genesys Meeting Center virtual meeting, using VoIP and participants PCs to connect moderators and participants to the audio portion of a Genesys online meeting.

New applications such as the Genesys VoIP Softphone benefit our agents and resellers because they enhance the value of the service offering to customers or prospects. We want our wholesale partners to be successful selling Genesys services, and one way to ensure that is to offer the technologies and capabilities needed to satisfy the end-users evolving requirements, said Denise Persson, Genesys executive vice president of global marketing.

The Genesys VoIP Softphone has been designed so that it is not in conflict with any existing VoIP solution that an enterprise may have already deployed or is considering deploying, said Persson.

One of the benefits of the Genesys VoIP Softphone is its low bandwidth requirement; it uses an economical 10kbps data stream. The softphone also can utilize HTTP over port 80, the default port for most Internet traffic, and easily bypass customer firewalls. Its security is assured with a proprietary compression method and file format and uses the 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard on all voice streams.
