Global Crossing Ltd. (Booth 518), a show sponsor, has implemented a global remote access IP VPN for a multinational firm through a sales partner, New York-based Transit Broker LLC.

The IP VPN, which replaces a frame relay network, covers the United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands and will be expanded into two other countries.

Kevin Gorman, senior segment manager for the indirect segment with Global Crossing, says Global Crossing is seeking to expand internationally through sales partners. In November, Global Crossing announced that it was expanding its outside sales channels to Europe and Latin America.

Global Crossing has been revamping its channel program for master agencies, VARs and other outside sales representatives over the last year. The company was expected to announce that two large sales agencies had joined its program.

And Global Crossing has broadened its focus on sales partners to include Cisco IP VARs because they are knowledgeable about platforms combining voice and data services, according to executives. We know voice is very quickly converging into this IP framework, says Paul OBrien, executive vice president of enterprise and collaboration sales with Global Crossing.
