Hewlett-Packard‘s (HPQ) thin client users now can take advantage of VMware‘s (VMW) Horizon DaaS desktop-as-a-service software, with the technology vendor adding support for Horizon DaaS to its entire thin client portfolio.
The announcement came on the heels of the release last week of Horizon DaaS, making it officially available to the general public. Previously, Horizon DaaS had been available only to select users in beta form. HP noted its entire portfolio of thin client solutions already has been tested and approved by VMware for Horizon DaaS support.
VMware previously stated that its Horizon DaaS offering is one of the only services available that can provide fully integrated, blended environments of on-premise and cloud desktop services. HP and VMware have worked together for the past 12 years to push virtualization further into the channel, and its success in securing a deal with VMware means that the company will be able to further extend its marketability in the thin client solutions market, the company noted.
HP also has partnered with Citrix (CTXS) and Microsoft (MSFT) on similar virtualization packages.
