Technology distribution titan Ingram Micro has acquired Global Mobility Products (GMP), the Burlington, Ont., Canada-based provider of mobile reverse logistics, repair and asset recovery services.

Ingram expects the acquisition will enhance its ability to provide a full suite of wireless device life-cycle services in Canada.

GMP’s customers include Canada’s largest mobile operators and retailers, as well as leading manufacturers. In addition to reverse logistics, asset recovery and repair, GMP provides return management and creates adaptive programs to meet customer-specific applications. Providing services at approximately 3,000 retail locations through its recently acquired 46,000 square-foot repair facility, GMP provides Ingram Micro Mobility customers with added capabilities and value-added services to supplement its offerings.

“This is a strong strategic fit, providing us with an immediate corridor to a rapidly growing, high-value services market that directly addresses the needs of mobility operators and retailers in Canada’s large and growing mobility market,” said Bashar Nejdawi, president, Ingram Micro Mobility North America. “GMP’s strong reputation, proven track record, solid growth and profit profile make it an excellent fit for Ingram Micro Mobility and are expected to help leverage our existing infrastructure to offer the Canadian mobility industry a broader array of streamlined logistics capabilities.”

GMP was founded in 1995 and has 150 employees. It will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Ingram Micro. Founding principalJohn Gnocato will be moving to other ventures. Operating principalRyan Djordjevic will continue to lead the company as a senior director, reporting directly to Nejdawi.

“We are excited to join forces with Ingram Micro Mobility and confident our customers will see immediate benefits from this collaboration,” said operating principal Ryan Djordjevic, who will continue to lead the company as senior director, reporting to Nejdawi. “Ingram Micro Mobility’s established mobility leadership and expertise in supply chain services are a natural pairing with our operations, which we expect will accelerate.”
