IP PBX-Cellular Gateway Combo Launched

Xorcom has partnered with Hypermedia Systems to provide a business telephone system based on cellular networks for companies that are deprived of landline infrastructure or just need a capacity boost or opex relief.

The joint solution pairs Xorcom’s Asterisk-based model XR3050 IP PBX and Hypermedia’s HG3000 GSM gateway. The addition of the Astribank XR0008 channel banks provides additional FXS ports for the bundled system. When connected via ISDN PRI, the three components enable instant deployment of hundreds of analog ports and/or SIP phones.

The gateway’s support for HSDPA allows businesses to get high speed Internet connection. At the same time, it provides low-cost telecom access using VoIP to any telephony provider worldwide and eliminating charges for calls between branches.

In addition, LCR modules built into the Asterisk and the Hypermedia GSM gateway route incoming and outgoing cellular-targeted calls via the mobile telephone network, which results in low-cost mobile-to-mobile calls and substantial call savings.

The Xorcom XR3000 IP-PBX is a standalone appliance that runs Asterisk and Astribank VoIP telephony interfaces on a standard 19-inch 2U rack-mountable chassis. With external Astribank channel bank units, the XR3000 supports up to 640 PSTN / analog phone ports, up to 1,000 users and up to 300 concurrent calls.

“The joint Hypermedia-Xorcom solution provides much needed high-speed Internet access and advanced telephony to areas where landlines do not reach,” notes Rami Hershkovitz, vice president of sales for Hypermedia Systems. “Even in places where landline infrastructure exists, the bundled solution can provide connection to alternative carriers’ equipment/networks to reduce the call rates and increase net savings.”
