IPcelerate Makes IM Deal with AOL

IPcelerate Inc. said today it has teamed with AOL Inc. The companies are integrating their instant messaging software for college students.


Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.


AOL is adding its AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service into IPcelerates MyNORA software, which includes a Virtual Student Union version. The MyNORA software client provides IP voice and video, instant messaging, conferencing and enhanced messaging.


The deal calls for AOL to be the exclusive provider of instant messaging to IPcelerate. AOLs Running Man icon will be placed into the MyNORA Neighborhood to indicate the AOL Buddy List feature.


MyNORA Virtual Student Union is a SIP-based digital dashboard and softphone the higher education market that brings together voice, video, data and collaboration capabilities. AOL and IPcelerate say integrating the AIM service into the MyNORA Virtual Student Union gives students access to more than 41 million Americans on the AIM network.
