Telstra Places Cards in Airport Vending Machines

Travelers to and from Australia now can buy calling cards at major airport terminals throughout the country.

The first Travelex vending machine at Sydney Airport’s Qantas domestic terminal will provide Telstra Corp. Ltd.
(www.telstra.com) prepaid rechargeable calling cards that allow the cardholder to call from virtually any phone in Australia and in more than 45 overseas destinations.

Telstra’s PhoneAway prepaid calling cards also are available at the old and new Melbourne Airport Qantas domestic terminals and in Brisbane’s Qantas domestic terminal. The company’s traditional PhoneCard for Australian pay phones also will be available from the vending machines.

The PhoneAway cards include new features such as voice and facsimile messaging facilities, allowing customers to make calls and receive messages.

“These prepaid cards are ideal for people wanting to control their call costs, particularly when traveling overseas,” says Michael Cefai, Telstra business solutions tourism and transport account director.

“The provision of the Telstra PhoneAway cards through a Travelex vending machine adds a sophisticated and convenient new dimension to customer service,” he says.

Travelex Managing Director Andrew Want says his company’s experience in the United States and the United Kingdom revealed a strong demand for access to prepaid card products from conveniently positioned vending machines.
