Lucent Annouces Realignment of Core Businesses

Lucent Technologies Inc. (www.lucent.com)
has announced a consolidation of its core businesses into four divisions in an
effort to better leverage opportunities in the marketplace. The businesses,
which will operate under one brand and be supported by Bell Labs’ technology,
are: Service Provider Networks, Enterprise Networks, NetCare Professional
Services and Microelectronics and Communi-cations Technologies.

Service Provider Networks will comprise Lucent’s current Optical Networking,
Switching and Access Systems, Wireless Networks and Communications Software
businesses. Enterprise Networks will consist of what now is Business
Communications systems and Government Solutions, plus those parts of
InterNetworking Systems that focus on enterprise customers and the channel that
supports SYSTIMAX cabling systems. NetCare Professional Services will comprise
the current Professional Services division, which recently merged with
International Network Services. Finally, Microelectronics and Communications
Technologies will consist of Lucent’s current Microelectronics division, Network
Products Group, New Ventures Group and Intellectual Property Division.

The leaders of the four core business divisions, respectively serving as
executive vice president and CEO of each division, are: Patricia Russo, William
O’Shea, John Drew and John Dickson.
