MegaPath has improved its One Unified Communications service with new features and design enhancements.

One highlight is SMS texting, which allows users to use their business VoIP phone number to send and receive texts to and from contacts with mobile numbers — this can be done from phone, tablet or laptop.

Another new feature is external screen sharing. Collaborating guests who don’t have MegaPath One can now share their screens and apps during a MegaPath One session. They just need to download the free Guest Client from the Google Apps store to participate in screen sharing. The app also is available here.

Upgrades to the design include tabs that organize conference sessions, as well as chat and text sessions by contact or group. This allows users to toggle easily between conversations, MegaPath said. And an optimized screen display allows for full-screen viewing of desktops and apps.

“MegaPath One addresses the industry demand for an all-in-one UC and telephony solution that strengthens the work flow for our customers,” said Arnaud Gautier, chief marketing officer, MegaPath. “The new product and design features, such as SMS texting and enabling external guests to share their screen, enhance the user experience and contribute to a fully integrated unified communications solution between employees, partners and customers, regardless of location.”

MegaPath One, celebrating its one-year anniversary this month, is designed for businesses of all sizes, promising “enterprise-class collaboration.” It combined IP telephony with video calling, presence, instant messaging, SMS text and online conferencing in a single application. It operates on Windows PCs and Macs, as well as iOS and Android mobile platforms. It supports My Room, an “always-on virtual collaboration space,” which allows users to take turns sharing their screens within the same group session.

The One UC upgrade is free and available now. If you’re an existing customer, there’s a good chance you’ve already been prompted to download the new version when logging on.
