Mitel Vet Heading Up Zoom Master Agent Channel Sales in Central Region
He'll work with master agents in a key part of the country.
Mitel vet Jim McGarry has taken a newly created role leading Zoom master agent channel sales in the central region.
McGarry was with Mitel for more than three years and held numerous channel leadership roles. He most recently was regional vice president of field sales.
McGarry reports to Kevin Thomsen, Zoom’s leader of master agents and channel sales. He joined Zoom last year from Vonage.
Zoom’s Jim McGarry
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for Zoom,” McGarry said. “The world now uses Zoom to communicate more effectively than ever before. Zoom isn’t just a platform for work, but has become a platform for our lives. Zoom’s master agent program is only just now approaching its first birthday. The opportunity to incorporate a world-class culture, incredible products, and the momentum of the industries’ happiest customers into our master agent program has provided us with the opportunity to do something really special and forever change an industry.”
McGarry’s role will entail meeting and strategizing with Zoom’s top partners, and continuing to build the company’s program and grow its presence with its master agents.
Zeroing In on Partner Education
Zoom wants to focus on partner education, McGarry said.
“Some partners aren’t yet aware of the incredible opportunities that Zoom Phone brings to our Zoom Meeting customers,” he told Channel Partners. “The velocity at which customers are flocking to implement and install Zoom Phone is unlike anything I’ve seen. Zoom has made it easy for our partners to offer Zoom Phone to these already existing customers. We simply need to evangelize and inform partners on how to do this, and get our message out quickly.”

The trust and relationships that have been forged in the Zoom master agent channel are “incredibly” valuable, McGarry said.
“Not just the camaraderie and friendships that have been built, but the trust in execution on behalf of our partners,” he said. “I feel privileged to work with our partners on delivering the Zoom story and value proposition to our collective customers together.”
Zoom’s sales skyrocketed during the company’s most recent quarter as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic kept workers home. The company had 433,700 customers with more than 10 employees at the end of the quarter. That’s up 485% year-over-year and 17% from the end of last July.
Nearly 1,300 of its customers are paying more than $100,000 each, a 136% increase from a year ago.
“Zoom has already built an incredible regional channel team of forward-thinking leaders,” McGarry said. “And we are continuing to grow in key markets. Bringing on more channel managers to market is our top item on the list. Secondly, we plan to continue informing channel partners about our Zoom Phone offerings, and helping them understand how they can lead with Zoom.”
Avant Goes Platinum
Also this week, Avant announced it has reached a record-setting milestone in its relationship with Zoom. Between the launch of the partnership last March through the end of 2020, Avant has achieved more than $1 million in monthly recurring revenue.
This milestone is a first among Zoom’s channel program partners.
