Momentum Telecom is expanding its capabilities by acquiring Metro Optical Solutions, a provider of managed network, data and internet solutions to enterprise and carrier customers globally.

Metro Optical has established itself as a single-source provider of fiber-based networking offerings backed by reliability and support, and tailored to each customer situation, Momentum said.

The acquisition will be final once all regulatory approvals are obtained. Financial details of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

Momentum’s Chuck Piazza

Chuck Piazza, Momentum‘s executive vice president of sales and marketing, tells Channel Partners that both companies have a “strong channel presence” and this acquisition will allow existing Momentum partners to now sell fiber-based connectivity along with cloud voice and UC through his company.

“This acquisition allows Momentum to be a one-stop shop for all things UCaaS, CCaaS, SD-WAN and now network connectivity while maintaining our signature white-glove implementation,” he said. “Another advantage in addition to offering network and fiber-based solutions is our trained and experienced channel team. Our teams’ consultative sell alongside partner approach allows them be there every step of the way to support partners in selling comprehensive technology solutions to meet our combined clients’ needs.”

Metro Optical has established relationships with leading master agencies. The merger bolsters the combined company’s “channel commitment” and enables agents to choose Momentum for more of their customer’s needs, according to Momentum.

“Existing Metro Optical partners now have access to the full Momentum solutions portfolio, and the ability to sell cloud voice and business applications,” Piazza said.

The two companies’ partner communities and programs will be consolidated during the coming months, he said. Momentum has more than 500 national white label and channel partners.

“The addition of Metro Optical is an important next step in the continued execution of the company’s long-term growth strategy,” said Todd Zittrouer, Momentum’s CEO. “We welcome the Metro Optical team to the Momentum family and look forward to working together on our mission to become the premier provider of unified communications to enterprise customers”.

“At Metro Optical, we’re excited to be joining a leading unified communications provider that closely aligns with our core mission and values, and we’re looking forward to the future successes of the unified company,” said Ande Hornig, Metro Optical’s CEO.

Hornig said he and Metro Optical president Jason Hornig will continue to oversee networking solutions at Momentum Telecom and will be supported by the existing Metro Optical team.
