Motorola Solutions CEO Greg Brown has added another responsibility to his heavy plate of obligations.
He has been named chairman of the board of directors, replacing Dave Dorman, who has been elected as lead independent director of the board.
I want to thank Dave for his service to Motorola as its chairman over the past 3 years and, in particular, his leadership and guidance as Motorola planned and executed its successful separation into two companies,” said Brown, referring to Motorola Solutions and the consumer-oriented Motorola Mobility.
Motorola Solutions, a company that sells two-way radios, mobile computers and other products to enterprise and government customers, named Brown chairman about a week after the company reported its first quarter results. Sales rose 8 percent year over year to approximately $1.9 billion. Government segment sales grew five percent from the year-ago quarter to $1.2 billion while enterprise segment sales climbed 14 percent to $695 million.
Earlier this year, Brown noted that Motorola Solutions generates roughly $1.8 billion in annual revenues in North America through its vast network of channel partners.
