MVNO Liberty Wireless Selects MobileSphere for Long-Distance

MobileSphere has signed an affiliate and international long-distance agreement with TelePlus Wireless Corp.s Liberty Wireless MVNO brand.

The deal makes Liberty Wireless the preferred provider for MobileSpheres MobileU prepaid service and gives it access to MobileSpheres customers. It also means Liberty Wireless customers will be able to choose integrated bundles with discounted international rates. The new service has a real-time call record interface so customers can monitor their international calling from Liberty Wirelesss customer Web portal.

MobileU whose features include international long-distance, text messaging and mobile media already is available on 20 campuses, including some Ivy League schools, the company said.

“Students represent a large segment of the unbanked market, said Kelly McLaren, president of TelePlus Liberty Wireless is an appealing service as it offers them the cost-control benefits of prepaid service while granting them such benefits as unlimited nights and weekends and free nationwide long-distance and roaming.
