Natural Convergence Takes a New FMC Step
June 8, 2009
Natural Convergence Inc. appears on the verge of an M&A spree.
The Canada-based company, which makes hosted VoIP software applications, is buying NewStep Networks, a maker of unified communications software. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“This is the first of a number of strategic moves we intend to implement to cement NCI as the global leader in providing hosted software applications,” said Pat Smith, chairman and CEO of Natural Convergence, in a prepared statement.
That “first” comment seems to indicate Natural Convergence’s intent to keep on keeping on with acquisitions as it’s able, even in a recession that doesn’t look to end any time soon.
Added Bill Crank, president of Natural Convergence: “Our committed customers and emerging markets have created the opportunity to allow NCI to make bold strategic moves in these challenging economic times.”
Can we expect more “bold moves” soon? To be sure, Natural Convergence is shoring up its place in the fixed-mobile convergence market, among its SMB and branch-office users. Its specific cash reserves or credit pull are unknown, as it’s a private company, but Smith said Natural Convergence’s business plan and subsequent investor support are creating momentum.
“There are immediate benefits to this acquisition, but this is just the tip of the iceberg on our overall strategy,” Smith said.
Natural Convergence runs a partner program.
