Vonage has nabbed a new CTO with a résumé that includes Apple, Microsoft and AT&T Labs.
The VoIP services provider said on Monday that Pablo Calamera will join the company in mid-October as head of technology development. Calamera comes to Vonage from Clear Channel Digital; there, he served as CTO and oversaw all of the technology initiatives for iHeartRadio.
At Vonage, part of Calamera’s job will be to create new products and services for the business segment, as well as the consumer and international divisions.
Indeed, last week, Zane Long, the new channel chief of Vonage Business Solutions, said partners can expect new platforms to sell to customers, but was not able to say what those will be. Calamera will be a key player in determining those offerings and rolling them out.
Calamera also has worked for Thumbplay Music as CTO; at Apple, where he worked as an engineering director and was instrumental in growing the .Mac service and building MobileMe; and in senior technology engineering roles at Microsoft and AT&T Labs. He’ll report to Vonage CEO, Marc Lefar.
