Master agency PlanetOne has promoted Lauren Shapiro from vice president of operations to president.
Shapiro came out of retirement in November 2010 to join PlanetOne; in the two years she has helped direct the company, revenue growth, channel activity and national recognition have increased to such a level that CEO Ted Schuman decided to move Shapiro up the corporate ladder.
“Lauren is a natural leader with a tremendous feel for the business and industry,” Schuman said in a prepared statement. “You combine that with her 25 years in technology, unquestionable character, integrity, honesty, a proven track record of success and what she has accomplished here at PlanetOne and her appointment was well-earned and deserved. I am confident in her new role we’ll continue to exceed the expectations of our sales partners and vendors for many years to come.”
The promotion comes as the privately held PlanetOne says its net revenue grew 28 percent in 2012 compared to 2011. The agency also made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies for the second consecutive year and held a number of partner events, including a Channel Chiefs Panel last fall in Scottsdale, Ariz. This year promises to hold more of the same, Shapiro said.
“We’re getting ready to announce our President’s Club winners and are expecting our biggest turnout ever,” she said in a press release. “Plus we’re already planning a huge event on the East Coast this coming June.”
Meanwhile, as a result of its growth, PlanetOne said it will hire more sales and support staff, and more managers.
