PowerNet Global Communications (Booth 205), an integrated communications provider, is using its Aleron OC48 nationwide backbone to deploy an IP-based voice network in 11 U.S. cities, the company announced today. To roll out their facilities-based network, PowerNet Global has joined forces with softswitch vendor Veraz Networks.

"Opening up key growth markets with enhanced, facilities-based services such as wholesale voice termination and local access is a major initiative for our growth strategy," says Bernie Stevens, CEO, PowerNet Global. "We intend to rely on our industry reputation and solid execution to carry out that strategy, and the foundation we’re starting with is a carrier-grade, next-generation network."

PowerNet has PoPs in Ashburn, Va., Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Palo Alto, Calif., and Seattle.
