TMONE: DIFFERENT APPROACH WILL HELP CLECS, VOIP CARRIERS
In the wake of regulatory changes affecting UNE-P, direct marketing firm Total Marketing One (TMOne) says it has modified its approach to better help its CLEC and VoIP clients. The company says it is willing to take additional risks and have a different approach to customer acquisition on behalf of CLEC and VoIP companies.
This means the company will cater to carriers looking to focus on high-dollar sales by targeting specific calling lists - ensuring customer retention and credit-worthiness - the company says, since many now will not want to focus on selling low-priced services.
TMOne executives say by tailoring marketing to each client, TMOne alleviates customer churn, providing a higher return on its services.

CONCRETIO EXPANDS SET OF OSS MODULES
Concretio has released an expanded version of the Complete Suite set of modules to support conversions from UNE-P to UNE-L, VoDSL and LSR gateway functions.
The Complete Suite allows facilities-based carriers to acquire new customers, convert UNE-P customers to UNE-L and process all ancillary services from one application. The OSS modules are connected by a workflow management system that includes pre-defined or user-defined tasks to automate the customer acquisition process, according to the company.
The system includes an LSR gateway function necessary to port customers to a network.

SYLANTRO, LEAPSTONE INTEGRATE APPS FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS
Sylantro Systems Corp. and Leapstone Systems Inc. have partnered and are delivering integrated business and consumer VoIP for telecommunications service providers.
Sylantro’s application feature server and Leapstone’s servicedelivery platform already are deployed together in an unnamed RBOC’s network, as well as in trials with other incumbent service providers.
Sylantro Systems provides hosted PBX and IP Centrex applications, voice VPN capabilities and consumer broadband applications through its feature server.
Leapstone provides open software that lets operators design, package, deploy and manage a range of content and services, helping providers differentiate themselves. As a foundation for VoIP service deployment, Leapstone’s CCE serviceBROKER optimizes service flexibility and speeds time to market, the company says. The product has completed preintegration interoperability testing with a number of network elements and commercial OSS systems.

REACHVIEW TECHNOLOGIES LAUNCHES VERSION 3.5 OF ICE FLAGSHIP SOLUTION
ReachView Technologies has released ReachView ICE version 3.5, software that lets telecommunications providers view, capture, control and resolve issues affecting business processes.
ReachView says the most significant change is the latest version of ICE is built on Microsoft .NET and provides users with a real-time view of dashboard creation, allowing for user input. The ICE Studio, a drag-and-drop desktop design tool for building dashboards and defining actions based on performance indicators, now provides wizards that configure data points. Users can easily define devices, applications and global attributes, eliminating the need to recreate configurations, ReachView says.
The ICE Dashboard also features gauges and reporting components that aid in designing and deploying dashboards.

ONSET UNVEILS HOBO FOR SERVER ROOMS, DATA CENTERS
Onset Computer Corp., which makes battery-powered data loggers, has introduced the HOBO LCD Temp/RH Logger, a low-cost monitoring system for checking temperature and humidity levels in server rooms, data centers and server cabinets. The logger records and displays temperature (-4F- +122F) and humidity (15 percent- 95 percent), and can activate an optional Auto Dialer unit that alerts IT administrators to out-of-range conditions via phone or pager. The wallmounted system is batterypowered so it fits into existing server room designs.
Onset says even a slight change in temperature increases the chances of equipment failure and data loss.
The HOBO LCD Temp/RH Logger operates for up to one year using standard alkaline batteries, and its LCD display indicates current temperature and humidity conditions, as well as remaining memory capacity and battery status.
Onset’s BoxCar Pro software for Windows lets users set high-level and low-level alarm thresholds, and allows them to view collected data graphically to understand temperature and humidity conditions over time.

AGILENT, ALCATEL CREATE COMBINED SOLUTION
Agilent Technologies Inc. and Alcatel have created an integrated signaling network monitoring solution that combines traditional independent network monitoring with integrated link-monitoring capabilities. The companies say the technology saves service providers time, space and operating costs because it enables direct connection from the Alcatel 5070 Signaling Server Global (SSG) to the Agilent acceSS7 network monitoring system.
The Alcatel 5070 SSG communicates directly with the acceSS7 system. It simplifies monitoring system configuration and reduces the need for link maintenance, minimizing effort required to keep the system current as the network changes.
The Alcatel 5070 SSG combines traditional STP functionality with advanced routing to support the expanding voice-overpacket and wireless markets. It provides increased levels of connectivity, capacity and expandability, Alcatel says, and works with legacy circuit-based networks.
The integrated monitoring capability uses Agilent’s acceSS7 platform, which has been upgraded to offer processing that can simultaneously monitor signaling running on multiple technologies such as IP, ATM and SONET/SDH on both electrical and optical mediums. The platform is offered in a smaller chassis, reducing the need for central-office space, power consumption and hardware support.

PEOPLESOFT, GENESYS DEVELOP CTI PRODUCT
PeopleSoft Inc. and call-center software company Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories Inc., an Alcatel division, are developing products that combine Genesys contact-center software and PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM applications. The first offering is a turnkey CTI product that puts Genesys 7 software with PeopleSoft Enterprise Service applications and CRM analytics.
PeopleSoft’s service applications provide Web self-service, chat, phone, fax and e-mail through a multichannel contact center. At the same time, Genesys’ software routes customer interactions to the appropriate service agent or company resource.
The new CTI product features server-side, rather than clientside, integration of Genesys software and PeopleSoft applications through a new Genesys Gplus Adapter for PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM.
The companies also have enabled their technologies to display statistics such as internal queue stats and average call wait time on the service agent and service supervisor’s desktop.

APCONNECTIONS ENHANCES NETEQUALIZER
APconnections Inc., a supplier of traffic-shaping appliances for broadband, has enhanced its NetEqualizer product family and expanded the range of configurations the line offers. Service providers can use NetEqualizer to prioritize voice and video traffic automatically, relieving congestion for data traffic with one easily installed appliance, the company says. NetEqualizer prioritizes and shifts bandwidth among applications and connections as network use rises and falls. During highuse times, NetEqualizer apportions more bandwidth for latencysensitive applications, while still enabling data traffic, such as large file downloads, to move through the network.
NetEqualizer reserves bandwidth for high-priority applications by tracking connections on the network. When the network is congested, NetEqualizer slows data connections, forcing them to relinquish bandwidth that is allocated to voice connections.
NetEqualizer then applies fairness rules to the data traffic, giving more bandwidth to Web browsing, chat and e-mail, and shifting bandwidth away from peer-to-peer applications and downloads.
NetEqualizer also now offers a range of configurations, from a minimum of 2mbps up to 155mbps per appliance. Customers with bandwidth requirements beyond 155mbps can add more boxes.
