VIRTUAL BACK OFFICE SOFTWARE
INTRODUCES WEB-BASED MODULES
Developers
at Virtual Back Office Software Inc. (VBOS) have released two new modules
VBOSS Pre-Paid and VBOSS Process Flow of their Webbased back-office
solution, VBOSS software.
The VBOSS Pre-Paid module addresses the needs of telecom companies that sell
services on a prepaid basis, often into the credit- challenged markets, the
company says. When capturing an order, the new software module automatically
pulls down the Customer Service Record (CSR) from the ILEC, or verifies the
address and the service availability if the customer does not have an active
CSR. If a new phone number is required, VBOSS can automatically acquire one. The
system applies the receipt of payments, suspends customers who do not renew
their service and cancels service if the customer has not paid within a defined
grace period. The system also automates sending of proposal letters, renewal letters and
bills and the tracking of payment progress.

NDA RELEASES
AMS 5.4 FOR ILECS, CLECS
Network Design and Analysis Corp. (NDA) announced the release of Account
Management System (AMS) version 5.4, which NDA says is the only product on the
market that supports sales force automation and pricing capabilities
specifically for telecommunications carriers. Enhancements include contract
management, sales guidance and new query capabilities on proposed and installed
products.
AMS allows ILECs and CLECs to provide pricing, quotation and order processing
for data, voice, IP and managed services within a single application.
The new contract management capability now is integrated with the pricing
capability of AMS and users instantly can generate customer or vendor contracts
from standard templates and store them on AMS centralized database.
Authorized users can determine the status of contracts via queries by customer,
vendor, signing date, effective date and expiration date.
The new sales guidance capability also is integrated with the pricing
capability of AMS to allow sales representatives to determine suitable products
for their customers by simply answering questions. The questions are driven by a
decision tree, which can be created and modified in-house.
Users can query the proposed and installed product inventory, which is
maintained by AMS in a centralized database. Users also proactively determine
the capacity requirement at a given location by querying the outstanding quotes
by product type, customer locations, CLECs, ILECs, IXCs and PoPs.

TELARIX OFFERS BILLING, SETTLEMENT SOLUTION
Telarix Inc., formerly known as Emerging Technologies Group,
has launched a new interconnect billing solution for global telecom carriers.
The new billing module in iXTools goes beyond invoicing to deliver real-time
operational intelligence about interconnect costs, margins and destinations,
says the company. The solution, developed at Embratel, a Brazilian
telecommunications carrier, was scheduled for general availability in December.
Unlike manual processes and standalone interconnect billing products, iXTools
provides business intelligence and analysis on key decision-making criteria such
as revenue, cost, routes and rate offers. Telarix says by using iXTools,
carriers can improve the speed in which they respond to customers; process and
adopt optimal rate offers; analyze and resolve billing disputes; and improve the
quality and accuracy of their invoicing.
The billing solution is an addition to the iXTools product suite a
collection of software solutions that gives telecom companies the ability to
manage costs and drive profitability on their interconnect traffic, the company
says. Telarix says the ability to gain efficiencies in this area is significant
because interconnect costs can account for at least 50 percent of total revenue.
