Profitec Releases VoIP-Specific Enhancements
February 15, 2005
Profitec Inc. (Booth 522) has enhanced its entire OmniSuite product line to accommodate billing and OSS requirements for VoIP resale.
The company says it has successfully implemented billing for numerous voice-over-network resellers in the past year. By listening to these customers, Profitec says, it has improved its knowledge level and expressed its understanding in its enhanced software systems.
The newest OmniBill version 7.7.1, the master database management system and billing front end that resides at the core of OmniSuite, contains multiple new features supporting VoIP activity. The new system components are designed to ease market entry for VoIP resellers while providing automated functionality that reduces manpower requirements. Full system integration along the OmniSuite product line enriches the consumer experience while minimizing order turn-up time, according to Profitec.
OmniFlow, the order management sub-component residing in OmniBill, provides end-to-end accountability from order entry to activation and can organize activities performed inside and outside a reseller location. The Profitec systems perform order validation and financial decision-making at the point of order entry so that accepted orders conveyed into OmniBill automatically can establish a work order tracking process. Staff members down the hall or across the country can be included in a work order process enabling a central authority to administer their tasks. Remote technicians can be informed of necessary activities, installation and/or scheduling can be performed and shipping instructions can be sent to a remote warehouse. Carrier activation instructions are delivered electronically while activation status is retrieved and posted to the customer service engine and fed into a central reporting system.
OmniBill 7.7.1 also provides a new and specialized service category to further enhance VoIP billing capability. The new service category includes unique taxation capabilities and provides increased commission tracking and treatment capabilities, according to Profitec. The new billing system functionality provides enhanced individual-item accounts receivable capabilities as well as separate GL reporting functionalities.
In the activation process, OmniBill now supports specialized data fields and separate activation/deactivation processes. The system also provides a variety of user-defined fields, which enables carrier- or switch-specific information requirements. VoIP billing output also is integrated fully into all electronic billing output and payment components.
Both OmniAgent, the sales channel Web portal, and consumer-oriented OmniSignup, have been enhanced fully to support VoIP order entry and product purchase. These systems provide for 24-hour-per day product purchase and status inquiry maximizing a resellers ability to provide interactive capabilities with their customers and their sales affiliates.
Profitec also has upgraded fully its customer service and back-office capabilities so that VoIP resellers that require outsourced business service capabilities can have everything centrally provided. Profitec provides a full host of services for resellers, which includes everything from order entry to payment processing and virtually everything in between, as well as activations and 24-hour-per-day customer service.
The company is now providing turnkey services for a number of VoIP providers.
In other Profitec news, the company announced that Connecticut Broadband, a 20-year-old, Connecticut-based communications provider, has chosen Profitecs OmniSuite as it new billing and OSS platform. While the process of replacing a billing system, which has been operating for many years, is difficult, selecting Profitec was actually easy, says Rust Muirhead, Connecticut Broadbands senior vice president. We have operated as a wireless provider and CLEC for many years and have a sizeable residential and commercial customer base. We also offer our own facilities-based broadband data solutions so our billing needs are really very complex and we found a limited number of vendors actually capable of handling our entire mix of services. We will also be providing VoIP solutions and Profitec supports that as well.
