UNE-P reseller Z-Tel Technologies Inc.
announced it has expanded its managed services package, the Communications
Briefcase, to include managed local, broadband, e-mail and hosting services in
addition to nationwide local phone service and broadband and long-distance
services. With the Communications Briefcase, customers can create either a
customized package for all their U.S. locations or simply transfer their current
services to Z-Tel, which consolidates and manages all aspects of the customers
communications services for each location saving the customer about 20
percent of what they would pay another provider, according to Z-Tel. The
Communications Briefcase also offers consolidated account management, billing,
reporting and analytics and simplified product management across any number of
customer locations.
Z-Tel also is utilizing its recently announced relationship
with Covad Communications Group Inc.
to offer three types of broadband services, or ZSpeed, with
the Communications Briefcase: ADSL, SDSL and T-1. The e-mail and Web hosting
offerings are a result of Z-Tels new relationship with XO
Communications Inc.
Carriers interested in offering Wi-Fi services can set up
real-world trials by accessing a hosted version of the Tatara
Systems Inc. Wi-Fi Service Delivery Platform, which is
integrated with the Wayport Inc. network
of public Wi-Fi hotspots, which includes more than 650 locations including
airports, hotels and retail venues. Using Tataras presence and location-aware
platform, service providers maintain the ability to communicate securely with
their Wi-Fi subscribers and to deliver enhanced services to them even while
subscribers are roaming on other operators physical Wi-Fi networks or
hotspots and after a VPN connection has been initiated.
Continuing its evolution from master agent to reseller, Cognigen
Networks Inc. has introduced the private-labeled
CogniWorld service available to subscribers in 47 states via its agent channel.
CogniWorld is traditional 1+ direct-dial, long-distance service at discounted
per-minute rates for interstate, intrastate and international calls. The service
features no minimum usage, credit card billing with online account management,
rates that are applicable around the clock for residential and commercial
accounts, frontend lookup tools and calls that are billed in six-second
increments with no monthly service charge.
Birdstep Technology,
a developer of wireless infrastructure software for mobile IP and secure
wireless access, announced a value-added distributor partnership with TerraWave
Solutions, a distributor of end-to-end Wi-Fi
solutions. Together, the companies will develop a channel to provide resellers
with wireless LAN infrastructure software designed to secure and increase the
mobility of a Wi-Fi network in both public and corporate environments. Under the
terms of the agreement, TerraWave Solutions will distribute Birdsteps IP Zone
Server and Intelligent Mobile IP Client to resellers deploying wireless networks
for ISPs and hotspot venues such as the enterprise, schools, hospitals, hotels
and airports.
Birdsteps IP Zone Server is a wireless access package that
allows system integrators to deploy and maintain wireless access solutions. The
access software contains functions for user authentication, local and central
administration and interfaces into billing systems. Birdsteps Intelligent
Mobile IP Client seamlessly connects and reconnects users across different types
of network infrastructures, without application downtime or user intervention.
