ShoreTel Appoints UTStarcoms Peter Blackmore as President, CEO

After months of looking for a new leader, ShoreTel has named the replacement for John Combs.

IP phone-maker ShoreTel this week named its new president and CEO after four months of seeking to replace John Combs, who said in July that he was leaving the company.

As of Dec. 13, Peter Blackmore now serves as head of ShoreTel. Blackmore most recently worked as president, CEO and board member of IP network provider UTStarcom Inc. Hes also been an executive at Unisys Corp., HP and Compaq.

Peter brings a wealth of hardware, software, services and channel expertise to ShoreTel,” said Gary Daichendt, ShoreTel board chairman, in a press release. His track record of successfully scaling technology organizations worldwide makes him the right leader to accelerate ShoreTels growth.”

Blackmores contract is good for three years at first. Blackmores base salary will total $400,000 per year and hell be eligible for bonus pay of up to 150 percent.

Blackmores appointment means interim president Don Girskis has returned to his position as senior vice president of worldwide sales.

ShoreTel specializes in IP phone systems and unified communications for businesses.
