Siemens Enterprise Communications this week introduced OpenScape Desktop Video Conferencing, part of its updated unified communications (UC) platform.

OpenScape Desktop VideoConferencing targets enterprises and will be available some time this month. Its a software-based capability embedded in the new version of OpenScape UC Suite, which also comes with new security and management updates. The software focus means video conferencing doesnt require proprietary equipment.

Video conferencing features include ad hoc or scheduled conferencing, video presence user status, one-number service for video endpoints, support for enhanced audio streams and high-definition video, and SIP-based interoperability with LifeSize, Polycom, Radvision and Cisco devices.

The latest release of OpenScape UC Suite further has IPv6 support, SDES security, expanded analog device support for OpenScape Branch, and Skype Connect trunking options for the OpenScape session border controller.

Siemens Enterprise sells its OpenScape products through channel partners.
