Global VolP provider Vonage has completed its acquisition of SimpleSignal and has added many of that company’s leaders to its management team moving forward.

In March, Vonage announced it was acquiring the UCaaS and collaborative services provider for $25.3 million. SimpleSignal serves more than 2,000 SMBs.

“The acquisition of SimpleSignal deepens Vonage’s penetration in UCaaS and demonstrates our commitment to execute on our organic and inorganic growth strategy in the sector,” said Alan Masarek, Vonage’s CEO. “It meaningfully broadens our already strong channel market coverage and provides the company with access to new channel partnerships and geographies, and the ability to further nurture existing relationships.”

Key management changes include:

  • Michael Sterl has been named regional vice president of channel sales. He previously served as executive vice president of SimpleSignal and was part of its founding management team. He will manage many of Vonage’s indirect channel managers nationally, and will be responsible for driving the overall channel strategy and managing key channel strategic partnerships.

  • Ron Ireland has been named director of channel operations. Has been serving as SimpleSignal’s chief financial officer. He will be responsible for creating channel compensation and pricing structures, in addition to managing carrier relationships and the financial operations of the channel.

  • Ujjval Karihaloo has been named senior director of product management. He was SimpleSignal’s chief technology officer. He will be responsible for Vonage’s overall channel product strategies.

  • Dave Gilbert, SimpleSignal’s CEO and co-founder, joins Vonage as a special advisor who will work closely with the business leadership team during the integration of the two companies.

“In less than 18 months, Vonage has become the fastest-growing provider of cloud communications in the SMB market,” Gilbert said. “Becoming a part of Vonage will instantly put SimpleSignal at the forefront of growth in this market, and I couldn’t be more pleased that SimpleSignal’s employees, customers and partners will now benefit from the strength and scale of Vonage.”
