Sonus Networks Inc. (SONS) is laying off another 60 people, which amounts to 6 percent of its remaining workforce.

This brings to 150 the total number of people the VoIP equipment maker has laid off since December 2008.

Sonus executives said the action marks yet another in a series of restructuring efforts.

“This latest action is part of our plan to ensure the business is aligned to the company’s long-term strategic direction,” Richard Nottenburg, president and CEO of Sonus Networks, said in a prepared statement. “We are actively investing in our solutions portfolio to build a stronger and more competitive company, and will continue to deliver innovative, market-leading technology to our customers.”

The layoffs will be done by the end of the first quarter.
