CHANNEL PARTNERS Star2Star Communications (Booth #1220 at the Fall 2011 Channel Partners Conference & Expo) this week is unveiling the StarBox 5500 IP PBX.

The new PBX connects up to 500 extensions with up to 100 simultaneous voice conversations.

The StarBox 5500 joins the StarBox 2200 and StarBox Lite models in Star2Stars product line. The 2200 can connect up to 250 extensions and 50 simultaneous calls, while the StarBox Lite can connect 20 extensions and 10 calls. Except for their differing capacities, all three models share an identical feature set and management interface. The 5500 can be used as a drop-in replacement for customers who have outgrown their smaller StarBoxes or, along with the other members of the StarBox family, as part of a multi-location solution.

The StarBox 5500 is packaged in a 1U rack-mountable chassis. It uses a Solid State Disk (SSD) for quiet operation and draws just 100 Watts of power. The IP PBX is available for immediate delivery.

Until now, the only solutions for larger VoIP customers cost tens of thousands of dollars per location”, said Norman Worthington, CEO of Star2Star Communications. The StarBox 5500 brings Star2Stars quality, reliability, and savings to customers with larger offices.”

The StarBoxes are part of Star2Stars blended architecture,” which uses on-premise and hosted cloud components to deliver business-class call quality over standard Internet connections. Star2Star also provides multiple failover options in case of a power or Internet outage.
