Stratus Technologies Inc. has acquired Emergent Network Solutions, a developer of telecommunications services and software that allow carriers and service providers to integrate network technologies.

The $11 million deal closed in August.

Emergent develops services for VoIP and IMS. Acquiring the company will help Stratus offer interoperability among wireline, mobile and cellular networks, executives said.

Stratus is based in Massachusetts. Emergent operates out of Texas. Nathan Franzmeier, Emergents founder and CEO, and his staff have become part of Stratus Technologies and will continue working in Allen, Texas, which is near Dallas. Franzmeier now serves as vice president of emerging network solutions, a new Stratus business unit, and reports to David J. Laurello, Stratus president and CEO.
