Stratus Telecommunications LLC announced it has acquired the ENTICE telecommunications business from Stratus Technologies Inc. of Maynard, Mass. The transaction closed on Jan. 2, 2009. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal makes Stratus Telecommunications a licensed reseller of Stratus Technologies’ ftServers, and Stratus Telecommunications will retain all customers in the ENTICE solutions portfolio. The acquisition encompasses the entire Stratus Technologies team associated with the acquired products and business, including the ENTICE solutions portfolio that was acquired by Stratus Technologies with the purchase of Emergent Network Solutions in August 2006.

“Despite the challenging economy, the Stratus Telecommunications business has grown substantially over the last five years — including 30 percent in 2008 — because of our strong converged TDM/VoIP product line, industry consolidation and new market opportunities created by global deregulation,” said Nathan Franzmeier, president of Stratus Telecommunications LLC. “Spinning off the division will allow us to aggressively pursue our own agenda, build new business models, and continue servicing our existing customer base as well as aggressively pursuing new customers and partners.”

Stratus Telecommunications’ flagship solutions include the company’s session border controller, residential and enterprise voice over broadband solutions, and a converged application server that delivers services such as number portability over SIP and SS7. The company now operates from Allen, Texas.
