Neutral interconnection and colocation provider Switch and Data and Last Mile Connections, a One Equity Partners company, have partnered to give their carrier customers more options at the local loop and interconnection levels.

Switch and Data plans to enable its sites with Last Miles Online Exchange, a neutral e-marketplace using reverse auctions for selling and buying telecom bandwidth services. In turn, Last Mile will offer its customers enhanced colocation and interconnection by consolidating all bandwidth suppliers into one access facility.

The companies say the deal means Switch and Data customers will be able to connect to end-user office buildings in each of the applicable markets, as well as to the long-haul highways leading out of the cities. The Online Exchange provides the means for ordering and managing these connections.

Over the next two months, Switch and Data and Last Mile will focus on Atlanta, Miami and New York, and then expand across other major markets. For now, the interconnectivity in New York includes 60 Hudson, 111 8th Avenue and 65 Broadway. The partnership applies to 56 Marietta in Atlanta, and to 36 NE Second Street and 1 NE 1st Street in Miami.
