More than 100 agents visited the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in late October for the Excel Telecommunications Achieving Excellence Summit the companys first dealer meeting since its reorganization and subsequent acquisition by Comtel Telcom Assets LP this summer. The event was lauded by many dealer attendees for its programming value, which included top-notch speakers like Tony Robbins, Harvey McKay and former FCC Chairman Michael Powell.
To Excels credit, it invited a pretty tough crowd to its coming-out party, says Dan Baldwin, president of Telecom Association Inc. Assuming that Excel invests the resources necessary to prove and/or guarantee quality of service to the agents (at least on par with other vendor QoS guarantees), I believe that Excel will be successful in earning the agents trust, earning a few trial orders and then earning an appropriate share of all its agents business.
To help encourage agents to get on board with selling the Excel product line, the company announced its incentive program, which offers agents a chance to earn a Mercedes Benz lease. In addition, agent David Rubin of Telecom Consulting Group won outright a Mercedes as part of a drawing from among the summits attendees.
Excel also unveiled its Marketing Coach, a touring bus for dealers to use to entertain clients they take to ballgames. The luxury bus already is booked for football games across the country through the Super Bowl.
