Teleglobe Reorganizes, Forms 4 Units
By Khali Henderson

With little fanfare, Teleglobe Communications Corp. (www.teleglobe.com)
has reorganized by forming four market-focused business units each accountable
for growth of revenue, customer base and profitability in specifically assigned
markets. The new business units are International, Value Added Services, Content
Distribution and Business Solutions. All units report to Chairman and CEO Paolo
Guidi.

The four business units will sell products and services supplied by four
product divisions, including voice services, data services, transmission
services and facilities services.

Teleglobe International is responsible for expanding the carrier’s business
with the world’s largest carriers and ISPs. Teleglobe currently serves more than
700 carrier customers around the world. John Cahill, formerly president of
Teleglobe USA Inc., has been appointed president of Teleglobe International.

Teleglobe Value Added Services will sell directly to switchless resellers and
marketing distribution companies. Andrew Burroughs, former vice president of
global marketing, was appointed vice president and general manager of this unit
(see related story on page 76).

Teleglobe Content Distribution will focus on doing business with U.S.-based
Internet content distribution and service providers as well as the global
broadcasting market. The unit is headed by Vice President and General Manager
Greg Ewert, formerly vice president of Internet Emerging Business at Teleglobe.
Among Teleglobe’s current content distribution clients are RealNetworks, Akamai,
ITV.net, INTERVU and iBEAM Broadcasting. In addition, Teleglobe supports the
broadcast transmission needs of more than 100 of the industry’s leading
television broadcasters.

The Teleglobe Business Solutions unit was formed to strengthen the carrier’s
position in the U.S. and Canadian business market, selling to national, major
and general business customers through multiple distribution channels including
e-commerce. Jim Garrettson, formerly senior vice president of general business
sales for Qwest Communications International Inc. (www.qwest.net
), has been named president of this unit.
