TelePacific Completes OCiX Acquisition

TelePacific Communications on Wednesday announced completing its acquisition of Orange County Internet Xchange (OCiX Inc.), a provider of carrier-class colocation services.

Los Angeles-based TelePacific noted its latest acquisition of OCiX a company that operates a 10,000 square-foot facility in Santa Ana, Calif. supports its initiative to continue delivering carrier-grade infrastructure to the small and medium-sized business market. TelePacific, which purchased a data center last year in Sacramento, Calif., plans to expand the OCiX facility to 18,000 square feet in the near future.

“Network reliability and security remain paramount concerns to our customers,” said Dick Jalkut, president and CEO of TelePacific, in a statement. “The legacy OCiX data center allows us to deliver the redundant facilities that are in high demand by banks, hospitals and other businesses in highly regulated industries.”

TelePacific said the OCiX facility is very close to its colocation facility in Irvine, Calif. TelePacific, a competitive local exchange provider serving businesses throughout California and Nevada, also has facilities in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not revealed, but TelePacific revealed that it offered jobs to OCiX employees.

TelePacific announced plans last month to acquire OCiX and its sister company Telekenex, an IP services provider with offices in San Francisco and Seattle.
