The Conference Group, which introduced ReadyShow, its video-over-IP conferencing product, at the Spring 2008 Channel Partners Conference & Expo, has announced enhancements to the collaboration product, including upping the seat count and a revamp of the solution.

The company quadrupled the number of seats that can be purchased, from five to 20, which broadens its appeal to larger companies and for larger meetings. The Conference Group hopes this will boost sales through channels for the offering.

IP-based video conferencing has gained great attention in the last year, especially with the introduction of networking giant Cisco Systems Inc.’s TelePresence package. Video conferencing can help cut soaring travel costs and time demands by making collaboration more effective and efficient.

The Conference Group reworked the service’s user interface by adding a new look and feel, according to Greg Plum, channel manager for the company. In addition, the company switched from a co-branded offering to a private-labeled one.

ReadyShow Video gives users the ability to conduct multipoint video conferences and desktop sharing with a webcam and a browser. It uses Flash technology, is completely browser-based without the need for downloads and works across multiple operating systems. As many as 16 videos can be shared simultaneously within a single conference.

The service includes an integrated VoIP option at no additional cost. “Of course, we are more than happy to provide a toll-free bridge number in conjunction with the video conference,” adds Plum. It costs $20 per seat, with a five-seat minimum purchase.
