Texas Instruments Inc. at Fall VON is showing its gigabit Ethernet IP phone software and silicon system-on-a-chip, the TNETV1051, which incorporates security and voice quality. The technology is aimed at small, medium and large business VoIP users.

The technology is designed on a digital signal processing platform that reduces development costs and helps speed IP phone manufacturers time-to-market.

TIs TNETV1051 contains a 150MHz DSP and a 300MHz RISC processor. The TNETV1051 also offers a series of gateway-like features on the platform, such as FXS and T.38 fax relay, which enables faxes to be sent to and from IP phone connections, or from an analog phone to an IP phone. As security becomes an increasing concern among manufacturers and end users, TI also has integrated a static packet filter in its IP phone platform to provide protection against some of the most common forms of Layer 3 and Layer 4 DoS attacks.

TIs TNETV1051 platform further incorporates the PoE technology, which allows a phone to be powered directly from a standard Ethernet cable instead of an AC line.
