tw telecom Expands Reach to Portland Suburbs
The Portland expansion is part of a national multimarket effort by the company to expand its metro fiber footprint to approximately 17 percent across the country.
UPDATED on April 17: tw telecom followed up the Portland announcement on Thursday by saying it is expanding its nationwide network and product suite by introducing service to enterprises and data-center customers in the Salt Lake Valley.
tw telecom keeps growing its network.
Less than a month after announcing expansions in Southern Colorado and the Memphis, Tenn., areas, the Colorado-based business Ethernet and networking solutions provider says it’s expanding its existing market footprint in Portland, Ore.
tw telecom says this move will extend its reach south of the city and west to major suburbs such as Beaverton, Hillsboro and Tigard.
“Recent economic growth in the region is fueling increased demand for bandwidth by growing businesses and expanding research activity,” said Skip Newberry, president, Technology Association of Oregon. “tw telecom’s expanded investments in the region will help to further enhance one of the most connected metro areas in the country.”
The company currently serves numerous Portland business customers and data centers. The network expansion will also connect the company’s services directly to more of its data-center customers on the west side of town.
The Portland expansion is part of a national multimarket effort by the company to expand its metro fiber footprint to approximately 17 percent across the country. As part of this effort, tw telecom plans to enter into five new high-demand markets – Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond and Salt Lake City – and accelerate the density of its metro-fiber footprint in more than one-third of its existing markets.
