PRESS RELEASE — MUNICH and BOCA RATON, Fla., June 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Unify, the Atos brand for communications software and services, today announced the introduction of the OpenScape Desk Phone CP Family, which includes innovative new desk phones integrated with collaboration software to meet the demands of companies navigating workplace digital transformation.
The way we work today is undergoing unprecedented change. Companies are tasked with supporting communications and collaboration as well as content and context from sources such as voice, video, social enterprise software, and chat along with collaboration apps. The range of options puts pressure on traditional unified communication (UC) solutions, including voice technology.
According to Unify’s the Way We Work Study, which surveyed 9,000 knowledge workers, 93 percent of workers still want the option to work in the office at least part of the time so the desk phone will continue to be a priority; however, until now, no communications software company has innovated a solution that meets the needs of the digital workplace.{ad}
Unify’s OpenScape Desk Phones have been re-imagined with numerous interoperability options, including Circuit conversation integration for smarter workflows, while ensuring a high quality voice experience. The intuitive desk phone design is aimed at improving productivity with an efficient layout of phone features coupled with the user friendliness of the Circuit interface. Driven by customer requests for phones to be less techy and more approachable, Unify worked with world-renowned frog design to create a balance between form, function, and cost-effectiveness. The result is a streamlined family of high quality phones featuring thoughtful design that aims to delight users while also addressing management needs with fewer phone platforms to administer and support.
“A consistent, intuitive experience across both the users’ collaboration software and desk phone is key to ensuring the value of the phone on the desktop,” said Peter Kuerpick, Executive Vice President, Product House, at Unify. “We are innovating every aspect of how companies communicate and collaborate, and the new OpenScape Desk Phone CP Family is a demonstration of that commitment – they’re intuitive, interoperable, beautiful and efficient – everything today’s workers need to be highly productive.”
The CP desk phones are interoperable with Circuit, and feature a built-in connector for synchronizing the conversation list from Circuit, whether individual or group conversations. It allows for instant and constant visibility and interaction with Circuit conversations. Customers without Circuit will use the standard CP phone interface that leverages the industry leading usability of Circuit.
Highlights of the OpenScape Desk Phone CP family include:
Bluetooth connectivity: Support for numerous audio device connections from wireless headsets to speakers, and are now available in HD via Bluetooth 2.1.
Near Field Communication (NFC): Simplifies the process of pairing to a smartphone, requiring just a single tap. With additional professional services, NFC can expand the phone’s capabilities such as auto-logon and log off for an additional layer of user security.
Powerful information push and sharing via Bluetooth LE Beacon with support for EddystoneTM: Provides intelligent sharing and collection of information between desk phones and mobile devices. With Bluetooth on, users can assign a single push URL to automatically share relevant information to a mobile device via Chrome browser. Pairing is not required for this functionality, and the user remains in control of what is shared. Customers can also use their CP phones to find things, people, or anything else they’ve tagged and shared.
“Sustainability, climate protection and resource efficiency are …

… key success factors for our business and when purchasing products we pay a great deal of attention to these criteria,” said Elmar Jordan, Head of Customer Service Networks and Communication, Viessmann IT Service. “In this respect, we are particularly pleased that the new OpenScape Desk Phone CP phones meet these attributes and in addition reduced their energy consumption considerably.”
“With the OpenScape Desk Phone CP Family, Unify has uniquely integrated desk phones with advanced collaboration environments,” said Rob Arnold, Principal Analyst for Connected Work research at Frost & Sullivan. “When used with Circuit, the phones provide enhanced collaborative functionality enabling an immersive, consistent and continuous user experience. The solution demonstrates Unify’s leadership in helping enterprises across the globe navigate their respective digital transformation journeys.”
The OpenScape Desk Phone CP Family will be available this month from Unify and its global channel partners.
