Verizon Business ranks as the top hosted VoIP and unified communications provider in North America, ABI Research says in its new Vendor Matrix.

Verizon is one of the few service providers with a comprehensive and global hosted VoIP and UC strategy,” said Subha Rama, a senior analyst for ABI Research. Its fully managed IP MPLS network forms the pivot of its hosted VoIP and UC services for mid-sized and large enterprises.”

Plus, Rama added, Verizon pushes its SIP trunking and bundling products aggressively and takes advantage of multiple vendor partnerships. Those strategies have helped Verizon consolidate its market position,” Rama added.

Verizon wasnt the only company to land a top position, though. New Global Telecom, which is being acquired by cableco Comcast Corp., and Smoothstone IP Communications Corp. claimed the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. ABI Practice Director Dan Shey said NGT is the single largest provider when it comes to installed base of hosted VoIP and UC subscribers. Smoothstone, meanwhile, has consistently innovated in service delivery, commanding steadfast customer loyalty among large enterprises,” Shey said.
